Glidden Point Cocktail
68Glidden Point oysters are renowned for their heavy shell, and beautiful appearance. We grow Glidden Points slowly, and in the nutrient-rich depths of the Damariscotta River, a world class growing environment. We start Glidden Point oysters from seed and grow them in upwellers and floating bags on the surface of the river until they reach the appropriate size to be planted on the leases at the bottom of the river. It is there, up to 40 ft below at our deepest site, that they develop their hefty shell, and mature to market size after 3-4 years. We don't rush the process.
All Glidden Point oysters are harvested by hand, and often by scuba diver. We touch our oysters every step of the way, and it's the care we take, whether it's grading seed, diving, or culling, that produces a premium oyster we're proud to share with you, and proud to call our own.
The difference between cocktails and selects are merely size preference. Cocktails are 2.5-3" while Selects are 3-3.5"+.

I ordered cocktail-size Glidden point oysters. They were excellent, and what I was looking for in the summer months. They were salty, crisp, clean—what you’d expect from a cold water oyster. I chose these specifically because they are grown at the bottom of the river. Coldest water for the summer. All 36 were healthy and alive. Shipping to Miami, Florida worked well (ice packs were still frozen upon arrival), and the oysters (to be shucked/served the next day) kept well in my fridge under a damp towel. Shucking takes a little practice for some. For what it’s worth to the novices, compared to other oysters, these are on the easier side to shuck. I will order again, and I do recommend to others.

My husband and I have been ordering from glidden point for years. We’ve had the luxury of experiencing their fresh oysters at their storefront with our children back in 2020. They taught us how to shuck the oysters and it was an amazing experience for us and our children. We have been ordering from them ever since. At least a couple times a year if not more.
