As the title say, these oysters were so delicious that i felt reinvigorated after months of being stuck inside. 50 was not enough, next time I'm getting double that.
Both arrived in great shape--enjoyed by all. The cocktai oysters were a little smaller than we expected (orders from other suppliers are generally larger--is tha a characteristic of Glidden point?) I will order the larger size next time. Scallops were more difficult to clean and time consuming. Perhaps a little tutorial for "rookies"? I had to consult an online video to know where to begin.
The scallops arrived fresh and cool, and a color-coded “fresh tag” included in the styrofoam container confirmed safe shipping. These Atlantic sea scallops are small (~1/2 the size of most sea scallops routinely available at fish shops and supermarkets), so plan to serve at least 3-4 per person for an entree. They clean-up quickly for cooking in the shell and are so flavorful, with the delicious roe beautifully intact. Enjoy!
Sweet, perfectly fresh. A real treat.
The only reason for the 4 star is the the Topsider were far larger than expected. Don’t get me wrong, the oyster meat itself can’t be too big for my tastes, but opening them was a true challenge. Frankly I only got through 1/2 of them before giving up to try another day. The photo of them showed about the size of a palm but these were the size of my palm and 1/2 up my fingers. And your description was that they were 2.5-3” Mine were a consistent 4-5” (yes I measured) Even with your great oyster knife, it was truly very difficult to open and some I just couldn’t manage. I likely would not have ordered them and stuck with the scallops and clams this round had it been a bit clearer how large they were. Will this stop me from ordering from you again?…NEVER! Just thought you should know that your descriptions need to be more concise since mere mortals have to open them. BTW, I first fell in love with your oysters at the Islesford Dock at Cranberry Island Maine and have them on average 3-4 times a season. They are always small and perfect. Further, Although packed well, two of the three ice packages ruptured and leaked their gel. One email and two hours later I was comforted to know that the gel is food safe so rinsed them off and I was on my way. GREAT customer service. The scallops were incredible and a learned a new culinary skill!
