MESSAGES FROM OUR TEAM - OPERATING DURING COVID-19

JULY 16TH, 2020

To our Glidden Point Community, a COVID-19 update--

Thank you to our local partners, wholesale & restaurant customers, and individuals who have and continue to order online and stop by in person. We are so lucky to have this community that has helped carried us through these difficult times. We are continuing to operate because of your support.

As our hours and programs have changed multiple times during this pandemic, we'd like to clarify what we are offering. This blog post & instagram are the best places to check for updates, and you can always reach out to us via phone: 207-315-7066, or e-mail: sales@gliddenpoint.com with any questions or need for clarifications.

ONLINE ORDERS: We are shipping online oyster orders once a week only on Thursdays for Friday deliveries. When checking out, please select your desired (Friday) delivery date. Our order cut-off for next-day delivery is Thursday at NOON. If your order is placed after NOON, Thursday, it will be shipped the following week. If you do not select a delivery date at checkout, it will be shipped on the next available Thursday ship date.

ON SITE FARM STORE: Our onsite Farm Store, located on 637 River Road, Edgecomb, ME 04556 is open seven days a week from 11:00am-5:00pm, and we are offering curbside pick-up as well as dine-in. Curbside pick-up orders can be placed here, where all oysters are priced by the dozen. When placing your curbside-pick up order, please write us a note in the notes section when you check out with pick-up date & estimated time. If visiting us for dine-in on our outdoor patio, please make a reservation by e-mailing farmstore@gliddenpoint.com, or calling 207-315-7066, as seating is limited. We offer shuck-your-own oysters, where knives and shucking gloves are provided, beer, wine, other snacks, and merchandise. MASKS ARE REQUIRED to be worn at all times, except for when seated at your table. Please be respectful, and abide by social distancing guidelines to help us keep you and our team safe.

MARCH 30TH, 2020

How’s everyone hanging in there? It’s been almost three weeks since the first case of COVID-19 showed up in Maine, and since then, our lives and the lives of Mainers and citizens nation and world wide have been completely upturned. It hasn’t been business as usual here, and we are still in disbelief at this new reality, but we are doing our best to serve you in ways that are useful and appropriate by continuing to provide a fresh, healthy source of nutrition for as long as it is safe to do so.

We are taking all of the necessary precautions and abiding to CDC guidelines and cleaning and disinfection recommendations, as it is our utmost priority to keep both our team and customers safe during this time.

We want to say thank you so much to those that have placed orders over the last few weeks, it means the world to us to receive your generous and continued support. We have received so many kind, heartfelt messages and feel so much gratitude, so as long as you want oysters, we will keep harvesting them.

Throughout all this, we are continuing to donate 10% of all online proceeds to Full plates full potential emergency fund. We are also working on a few things to make it easier for you to order on our website coming this week, one of which is free shipping on all products (available now), so stay tuned, stay home, and eat oysters.

Keep taking care of each other, we are all in this together —

Ryan, Jon, John, Colin, Line, and Sarah, the GPO team.

MARCH 19TH, 2020

We don’t have to tell you that these are trying times. And we, like you, don’t know when it’s going to get better, as many of our wholesale and restaurant partners have had to close their doors.

So as Mainers, Americans, and worldwide citizens take to the indoors to practice social distancing, learn how to work from home, how to homeschool, adjust to our new collective reality, and turn inward to take a deep breath, we hope we can impart a little joy and maybe some relief from canned food dinners.

Because here’s the thing about oysters. While they contain zinc, which is purported to be great for strengthening immune systems, that’s not why we eat them. Some of our greatest memories include shucking them straight out of the water with the crew after a long day, trying a new oyster alongside our old favorites at the local raw bar, or throwing them on the grill in the heat of a summer family barbecue.

Oysters are a communal food of celebration, so let’s continue in that tradition. Order oysters for yourself. Send them to Mom and Dad. Order them for Nanny and Poppy, for friends you’ve been FaceTiming, for aunts, uncles, and cousins as a way to say “hey, I’m thinking of you.”

While we cannot enjoy them together for the time being, treat yourself and your loved ones to a taste of the clean, salty Damariscotta River while staying safe at home.

At Glidden Point, we have always prided ourselves on our attention to detail, safe handling practices, and cleanliness, but have taken extra precautions during these times. We will be harvesting and shipping four days week with our small team.

Additionally, 10% of all proceeds from our online sales will be donated to full plates full potential emergency fund. These donations will help support public schools in Maine that have closed due to the pandemic by helping schools pay for increased meals, packaging meals, transporting food to eligible sites and more.

Thank you for your continued support, and hang in there. We are all in this together. - Ryan, Jon, John, Colin, Line, and Sarah, the Glidden Point Team
